FIRST DEGREE STUDIES – available to civilians and all sworn personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland

Course name: Internal Security
duration of the study:

  • full-time (a 3-year course, six semesters)
  • extra-mural (a 3-year course, six semesters)

The Internal Security studies are aimed at preparing highly-skilled specialists for work in state agencies and local authorities on positions related to team management in emergency situations, during natural disasters, and dealing with state security threats, as well as for supporting state agencies (the Police, Customs, and the Border Guard) in raising their professional skills with regard to the constantly changing law and the necessity for a thorough analysis of the newly-emerged threats (i.e. terrorism, cyber-terrorism). The Internal Security first degree studies at the Police Academy in Szczytno are directed to all individuals – secondary school graduates, whose current or prospective job (or service) is related to internal security in a broad sense.
The study program, both the content of the obligatory and extracurricular courses, also covers some core aspects of the basic police training – as defined by the Chief of the Polish Police – which will prepare a full-fledged graduate for enrolment into the police force and the basic police training proper at one of the Police training facilities (which will play a supplementary role to the abridged basic Police training that students receive throughout the course).

The Internal Security studies are aimed at preparing highly-skilled specialists for work in state agencies and local authorities on positions related to team management in emergency situations, during natural disasters, and dealing with state security threats, as well as for supporting state agencies (the Police, Customs, and the Border Guard) in raising their professional skills with regard to the constantly changing law and the necessity for a thorough analysis of the newly-emerged threats (i.e. terrorism, cyber-terrorism);
The Internal Security second degree studies at the Police Academy in Szczytno are directed to all individuals who have successfully completed a first degree course and whose current or prospective job (or service) is related to internal security in a broad sense.

POST-GRADUATE STUDIES - available to civilians and all sworn personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland

(first degree or second degree graduates)
Course name: Internal Security - focusing on:

  • the issue of organized crime and terrorism;
  • forensics in the criminal procedure
  • crisis management
  • education for safety

The main goal of the Internal Security in Crisis Management course is to achieve knowledge, skills, and to develop the predispositions for counteracting critical situations, taking swift action and dealing with the aftermath and implementing effective disaster recovery plans, as well as building the competence to manage people in an emergency.
The main goal of the Internal Security in Organized Crime and Terrorism course is to lay the groundwork for effective recognition, prevention and the application of counter-measures against current threats posed by organized crime and terrorism.
The main goal of the post-graduate course in Internal Security in Forensics in the Criminal Procedure is to prepare the student to effectively recognize, prevent and fight current threats of criminal origin through:

honing the skills in using the latest achievements in the field of forensics
  • gaining knowledge about current criminal threats
  • getting familiar with the modern solutions in the field of digital evidence examination
  • developing the skills in utilizing open source intelligence and using its results

The post-graduate course in Internal Security in Education for Safety is directed particularly to university graduates specializing in teaching who would like to supplement their factual knowledge to teach in compliance with the Education for Safety standards at educational stages III and IV in middle-school/junior high-school and upper secondary-level schools.
